Getting ready to study at Herts
Starting at university will be a bit different to what you’re used to. For possibly the first time in your life, you’ve decided what you want to study and now is your opportunity to explore that in and outside of the classroom. Uni life is all about you taking charge of your learning so that you can get the most out of your time at Herts.
Don't forget, you have us every step of the way to help you thrive. It’s why we’ve created our free Getting Ready to Study at Herts online course for new students to complete before they start. This mini course covers the essentials – succeeding on your course, on-campus study spots and our extra support to help you through uni life.
Staying healthy
We recommend that you stay up to date with your vaccinations including meningitis, MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella), COVID-19 and flu if you’re eligible.
If you’re an international student, you can register with a UK doctor (also called general practices GPs) once you arrive and book any vaccinations if you weren’t able to sort that out in your home country. Remember, general practices or surgeries such as our medical centre are just for common medical issues. Anything more serious or urgent will be directed to the local hospital and don’t forget, our medical centre doesn’t do home visits.
Thinking about where to live?
So where should you start? You’ll need to think about budget, convenience, and opportunities to get involved in uni life. We have several options at Herts.
